Mistakes

"A man must be big enough to admit his mistakes, smart enough to profit from them, and strong enough to correct them."  - John C. Maxwell

In my life I have found that I am prone to make mistakes.  Prone to stumble and prone to be at a lost for words.  Each and every time I have found a way to admit my mistakes, smart enough to profit from them and strong enough to correct them.   You see, it takes a humble person in today's society to admit anything.  Most people are too full of pride, have to large of an ego or are too conceited to admit anything.

I thank God everyday that He has given me the know how to admit when I am wrong..  I thank God everyday that He is in my life and directs my feet, and my heart.  Without Him, I could easily be just one of the number.  I could be that stubborn, arrogant, proud person, too full of ego to listen, too immature to care....but by the Grace of God......I am gently guided into the proper path.

Everyday I am prone to make mistakes, everyday like Paul, I must die in order to live.  That dying enables me to say, yes, I make mistakes and now I am smart enough to correct them and learn from them.

Disappointments

"Man must be disappointed with the lesser things of life before he can comprehend the full value of the greater." - Edward George Earle Lytton Bulwer-Lytton, 1st Baron Lytton

Disappointment is a funny thing.  It comes in many different shapes and sizes and from the least expected places.  Friends disappoint when you find out that they are not truly friends, Role models you looked up to sometimes disappointed when you find out they were not who you thought they were.  In my life I have ran across many disappointments.  Some were shocking, some were expected, some were razor sharp that cut to the bone.  Those disappointments, while large at the time are in reality just the lesser things in life.  Those disappointments, while made to hurt, are really there as lessons.  They open the eyes to help you see clearer.  They allow you to see the full value of the greater things to come.  My eyes have been opened by these disappointments.  Today I am a better man because the lesser things in my life have shown me the greater things in store.

Tomorrow

"You can't have a better tomorrow if you are thinking about yesterday all the time." - Charles Kettering

Yesterday.  Yesterday I meant to mow my yard.  Yesterday I should of got more work done.  Yesterday I should of...this....should of that.  Yesterday is gone.  You cannot reclaim yesterday and many times, who would really want to?  Yesterdays can hold great moments in time but generally tend to be full of mistakes, disappointments, anger, frustrations, hurt and sadness.  Holding on to days like that are detrimental to your life.  Holding on to the anger toward a person who did you wrong will only destroy you from the inside.  Holding on to the frustrations that a day might of brought will only make you bitter.

I have a choice.  I can either live in a yesterday that was filled with disappointment or I can live today knowing that the one who holds tomorrow is also watching me today.  All the mistakes...all the disappointments, all the hurt, anger, pain that those around me have caused....that was yesterday.  It is over. I have chosen to live today and look forward to tomorrow.
