Good morning!
It is funny, not in a haha way, how people read something, or hear it, and then quote it to you totally different than what it really is. How many times have you had someone say, "The Bible says not to judge!"? Actually the Bible tells us that judgment is important. No I do not have the right to set myself in the position to condemn you, but judgment is important. He told the scribes and Pharisees in Matthew 23:23 they had kept part of the Law but failed to keep a more important part of the Law...judgment.
" Judge not, that ye be not judged. For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again." Matt 7:1-2
As with most things, Jesus has an approach to life that is so different from our natural approach. He doesn't tell us not to judge, unless we don't want to be judge. He does tell us that the way we judge others is the way we will be judge. Judgment doesn't always have to do with right and wrong. It more often will have to do with the way we treat others. Our kindness toward them. Understanding their needs. Showing them compassion. In fact the word judgment used in Matthew 23 speaks of justice, which is the spirit of the Law. Jesus is simply telling us, Judge others the way you want to be judged. He again is telling us to treat others, in all matters, the way we want to be treated. He is teaching us "How to Judge...!"
Just a Thought! God Bless....
