I have often heard the argument of good verses evil. Actually good isn't the opposite of evil. Truth is the opposite of evil. Good is relative to the situation. In our eyes an adulter is a good man compared to a chainsaw massacrer! Who do you want for a neighbor?
 
"I
have refrained my feet from every evil way, that I might keep thy word. I have not departed from thy judgments: for thou hast taught me." Ps 119:101-102
 
Jesus speaks in John of doing truth. We have the choice of keeping ourselves from doing evil or walking in truth. As we allow God to teach us His Ways we find it easier to walk in truth.
