Jesus said that He must needs go thru Samaria. He didn't take the normal route that others took. He went out of His way thru a city that was known for its past iniquity. He could of ignored Samaria. He could of turned His nose away from it. He could of stuck to the course and the tradition of the travel everyone else had taken. However, there was a need....and He was taken by that need to go. He didn't choose to go thru Samaria....He had a need to go thru.

He didn't pick Samaria, Samaria's desperation called out to Him.

There was a need to go thru Samaria. There was sin there. There was lost souls there. There was despair, desperation, emptiness there. Samaria was desolate and needed Jesus....so the desire was created in Him to go.

I must needs go said Jesus....I must needs go!

Jesus took the different route. He knew that at a certain time, He would meet the Samaratin woman at the well, full of despair and sin, and He would tell her who He was.

The need to go allowed the Gospel to be spread to those who needed it. Hope was brought to the field in which the treasure was. He didn't wait for the treasure to come to His path....He crossed it's path.

How many times in our daily lives do we take the
normal route, live the daily routine, stop at the normal places, talk to the normal people and place our blinds on to the world around us as we go about our daily lives?

How many times do we miss the opportunity to tell that cashier that Jesus loves them..or that drive thru attendant about a church in which Jesus resides?

How many times do you pass that person on the side of the street thats just looking for a drink from the well?

How many times do you avoid eye contact with others on the sidewalk?

How many times do you stay stuck in routine and get frustrated if routine is shaken?

Jesus said He must needs go....

Need: Obligation.

Must: Required or compelled.

Jesus was saying, there is a required obligation that He had to stir in Himself or else that lady would never know who He was.

We must stir the need. We must needs go!

As this marathon of holidays begins....

As this economy turns further South...

As the hustle and bustle distracts us...

Let's not forget the need we must have.

The need to go to the iniquity.

The need to go to the sin.

The need to go to the lost hope.

The need to go to the desperation.

The need to introduce Jesus into it.

I must needs go.
