I have met people who were not at peace unless they were at war. Conflict, anger, suspicion, and harsh words fill their days. Carnage and discord surround them.
God’s Word tells us to follow peace (Hebrews 12:14). To “follow” means to chase after or pursue.
Peace is elusive. To possess peace requires a continual effort on our part. It is impossible to achieve peace once and hold it forever in our grasp.
Maintaining peace with ourselves, others, and God requires work. Often, it demands our being willing to change. Having a life filled with peace is worth whatever effort though.
Lord, we want peace to rule our hearts–our lives (Colossians 3:15). You are the Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:6).
To be like You requires making peace our priority too. Because of You, peace is possible in a world filled with chaos, problems, and pain, and we are grateful.
