I wrote for our church newsletter for several years, on a variety of topics. Short stories, reporting on church events, inspiring thoughts & book reviews, were mostly what I wrote. Our publication is now a bulletin. For Mother's day, 2008, I wrote a tribute to our First Lady. I also wrote an analogy for our Music Director. I've taken courses in college to better my skills. My current project is a fictional story on inner healing.

A very wise woman said, “If you’re going to do a work for the Lord, it might as well be something you enjoy doing.”  John 15:11 speaks of having the joy of Jesus in you and that your joy may be full.   He made this statement on the eve of His crucifixion!  Think of it. Jesus was facing the cross.  Yet, His main concern was for his disciples to have JOY.

Ministering from the Shadows

It takes several colors to make rainbows and the incredible leaves of the fall season.  Even the ocean has been described as “clear as glass”, “beautiful crystal blue”, or “gulf waters brown”.  Some things command one’s attention.  Enough so, that the person may stop what they are doing to observe it.  Some are a little less bold, like the meow of a lost kitten or that intricate note in a song.  One may need to listen carefully to hear.  Sometimes the Lord chooses bold people to do a work for Him.  Peter and Paul would be considered bold. They loudly proclaimed the gospel.  When people speak of the apostles, Peter is generally the first one that is mentioned.  Why?  Because he was brash & quick to jump.  Sometimes that was a good thing.  In Matthew 16:16, when it came to his revelation of who Jesus is, Peter boldly stated, “Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.”  But, who was with Peter when Jesus walked into their lives?  John 1:40-42 says that it was Andrew that introduced Peter to Jesus.  Peter’s brother, quiet, unassuming Andrew.  We don’t read nor hear much about Andrew.  There are only about a dozen scriptures that involve Andrew specifically by name. Yet, he had an incredible journey of his own.  He not only traveled with Jesus, but he also entertained the Lord in his own home.  It was Andrew that brought the boy with the five barley loaves and two fish to Jesus, and then just hung back, in the shadows so to speak, to watch the miracle take place.  All of us have our work to do for the Lord.  It just may not always be in the spotlight.  Sometimes, one ministers from the shadows.
