I watched a very good movie yesterday, it was a Christian based movie about a couple that is having problems in their marriage, so the husband decides to try a system that takes 40 days, it is a series of dares or things to do to show his affection and love to his wife. I loved the movie, no there aren’t Hollywood caliber actors, but the story is good and a lot like the thing many marriages face these days! This is not going to be about marriage, well at least not a physical marriage. As I sat watching it I couldn’t help but think I could apply this to my relationship with God. “Parasites” are mentioned a parasite lives off another life source that can be anything that comes between you and God, sin…you put your own name on it. That thought just struck me, there are so many things that take our time away from God, and yes it can even be those adorable little children, when we start to use them as an excuse we need to remember Abraham and Issac, he was willing
to kill his promise, the one he had waited for years for! No, thankfully we don’t have to do that in a physical sense, but we most definitely have to spiritually!
I remember when my husband & I were dating I only wanted to be with him, I was consumed with him…we need to be consumed with the Bible, and we need to “consume” it daily so it can be who we are!
Communication is so huge too, many think of prayer as something they just do, not something we GET to do, I mean we get to talk with the ALMIGHTY GOD whenever we want to, and you know what, He loves hearing from us, He wants to talk with us daily! He wants us to “sit” on His lap and just chat..that amazes me!
My favorite line in the movie was, we don’t do this only to make sure our relationship doesn’t burn down, we do it so our marriage will be fireproof so we can walk through the fire together! We need to do these things daily to show God our love and affection, and so no matter the fire our relationship with Him will be fireproof..they were sent a strong delusion and walked away from the truth, because they received not a love for the truth!
Think about it…
I love y’all
