As White As Snow!!!

John Clardy

Isaiah 1:18   Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.

On December 10, 2008 we were blessed here in the deep south to get an early Christmas present. SNOW!  According to news sources, it had been 20 years, 1988, since any snow has fallen and accumulated.  I checked the weather up home in Southern Illinois and it was colder here in Baton Rouge, LA then it was up there.

I was out in it playing and acting like a kid myself.  Hope those of you that were in the area enjoyed it as much as I did.  The one thing that stood out to me was how that no matter how ugly some things had been the day before, the white covering of snow made everything look beautiful and clean.

I couldn't help but mention to a friend that it was a living illustration of what the Blood of Christ does when applied to our lives.  No matter how ugly our lives have become because of sin, when the blood is applied it makes everything clean and new and beautiful again.

I am so thankful that I have had the Blood of Jesus applied to my life!  I am so thankful for the gift of redemption and regeneration that is available to us because a Messiah came to a manger, the Lord of Lords became the Lamb slain!  I know we have heard it quoted time and time again, but it is still true.  God’s gift to the world, His only Son, is still the greatest gift of all.

John 3:16-17

16  For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

17  For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

There is a Christmas carol we often sing that says, "I’m dreaming of a White Christmas.  Where treetops glisten and children listen to hear sleigh bells in the snow…”

For a couple of days, we were blessed with a treat of snow here in the south, but as the sun came out and the temperatures rose, it quickly dissipated. It may be another 20 years before it happens again.

But there is a white Christmas that everyone of us can have that will not melt, or evaporate or be so rare that we may never see it again.  It is the white Christmas of a clean heart and clean conscience.  A washing away of sins stains! A covering that makes our live new and bright and will remain!

Are you dreaming of a White Christmas?  It doesn’t have to be a dream, it can be a reality!  All you have to do is ask Jesus into your heart today.  Repent of your sins and ask Him to forgive you! I promise you He will!  Why not give it a try?  You too can be as white as snow!
