Time is fast approaching for a grand feast on Thanksgiving Day.
My mother has always been the backbone that pulls all the family together from our various corners. She is a woman of simple means and makes do with what she has and does not fret over items she does not have. Every year we argue to no avail about whose house the Great Feast will be served.  It always ends up at mom’s house. Last year we celebrated with my parent’s first Great- grandbaby, my granddaughter. This year we will celebrate with a few new arrivals, my sisters first grandchild, my other sister’s new husband, and two new stepsons.   Looking back over this year I know despite trouble, and turmoil, my family is blessed. This year our family endured two divorcee, illness, and loss of employment, fighting, and family members turning their backs on each other. My mother pulled us all back together, she is so humble, she loves the Lord with all her heart, and each time a crisis struck our family, she prayed as a reverent warrior who was on the actual battleground with the word of God in her hand and a sword rose to demolish the enemy.  The last few years have been very hard on her, and this year she and Dad will each respectably sit at the ends of the table with family squeezed in on all sides. At 65 she is still shy, blushes at compliments and loves her children like a lioness over her cubs. She is our protector, in the spiritual realm between earth and God, our prayer warrior. My parent’s prayers have made this day possible, for I know God hears the cries of his children.  I look forward to the “Grand Feast” mostly because all my family will be together, with all our various differences, opinions, ideals, laughing, giggling, and yes arguing; as it is in our nature. Then as I gaze at my mom and Dad I will see them exchange that look that says it all. Thank you Jesus, for another year with my family, we are blessed. It has been this simple family core that held our family together all these years. We do not give up on each other we strive to persevere, and love one another immensely. From my dad we learned to stand our ground and fight, and from my mother we learned, to always stand by your family no matter the circumstances with unconditional love.

Hooray for the Grand Feast! Hooray for the Grand Feast!

I thank our father in heaven for his promises and his word. He kept my family, he sustained us, and we rejoice in him for his unfailing love and provision on this Great Thanksgiving Day!

Thank you Lord!
