Recently, Rich was home on a Sunday and bought the local paper. He took out the important reading material: ads and comics, and tossed the rest aside.
I grabbed up the unwanted remnants. "AAhhhh, that's my man!" I thought, "We blend."
In the waste pile, I found a half-page article on microchipping humans. The graphic art for the article was a hand overlaying a human face. Within the hand was a microchip. It read:
PRIVACY LOST?
By Todd Lewan
ASSOCIATED PRESS
"CityWatcher.com, a provider of surveillance equipment, attracted little notice itself -- until a year ago, when two of its employees had glass-encapsulated microchips with miniature antennas embedded in their forearms.
The "chipping" of the two workers with RFIDs -- radio frequency identification tags as long as two grains of rice, as thick as a toothpick -- was just a way to restrict access to vaults that held sensitive data and images for police departments, the company said."
The article went onto say that over 9,000 people had been chipped already. Alzheimer's and Diabetic patients to prisoners. It stated that the government is working on legislation that will require every baby to be chipped at birth!
The article's final thought prognosticated a time when the government would force everyone to "take the chip, or go hungry".
Needless to say, I had an "Oh, Jesus!" moment, right there, in my living room with a captive audience of one. Following my zealous and heartfelt tirade, Rich didn't have much to say about the matter, other than, "I won't take that thing. That'd be stupid."

wow~~great article. We so often get lost in our own world, that we forget to check and see what's happening in the "outside" world. Huge reality check for me!
