45831 How Bad Do You Have To Have It?
By: Lynne Conley
Jezebel was the ancient Israel princess. Jezebel gets married King Ahab;
she turns King Ahab away from God, and turns him toward the idol god Baal. King
Ahab was one of the most mischievous king’s in the Old Testament. Naboth was an
owner of a piece of property. Naboth had a fine-looking vineyard. King Ahab
desired so badly the beautiful vineyard. Naboth inherited this land from his
father. Under the Jewish law he couldn’t turn away from the land, or sell it to
anyone. King Ahab told Naboth he would pay any price for this piece of land. He
wanted to plant a vegetable garden since the vineyard was so close to his
house. Naboth told King Ahab the vineyard is not for sale. This vineyard is my
inheritance. This vineyard has been in my family for generations. King Ahab
went back to his house. King Ahab is so depressed; he turns down to food to
eat, he is lying on his bed with his face toward the wall. King Ahab wife
Jezebel wrote all kinds of letters to the leaders in the city. She told them by
orders to find someone to lie against Naboth. Jezebel wanted someone to lie
against him, and that Naboth commit blasphemy against God and King Ahab.
Jezebel become aware that Naboth and his sons are dead. She was so excited that
her husband King Ahab would finally have this beautiful garden for he wanted so
badly. Elijah went and told King Ahab. God has seen what Jezebel your wife has
done. There is a great punishment for you and your wife. You’ve sold yourself
for evil and you will pay.
In the Word of God it records, And thou shalt speak unto him, saying, Thus
saith the LORD, Hast thou killed, and also taken possession? And thou shalt
speak unto him, saying, Thus saith the LORD, In the place where dogs licked the
blood of Naboth shall dogs lick thy blood, even thine. (1ST Kings
21:19 KJV) King Ahab thought to himself that he had the vineyard for such a
cheap price. It cost him and his wife everything. We all have experienced some
sort of pleasant to unpleasant feelings. Our society is so messed up. We have
to stop looking for what we don't have. Covetousness is dangerous. Don't let it
grow in your life. Be content with what you have.
We need to help all we can. I know for myself its makes my heart
full of joy when I can help others. No money can buy a person with a servant's
heart. Let’s all help each other on this road we are traveling, be a friend.
Our words can be a motivator, whether we realize it or not, whether you mean to or not. Our words can bring life, or it can cause someone to take their own life. While we all still alive, let’s make our days count for something!- Lynne Conley My life consists of working full-time at a pharmaceutical company and teaching Sunday school (Kindergarten class) My desire is to encourage others. My writings aren’t fancy words, but they are from the Lord. So many people are hurting, and I want to help all I can while I am still alive. My passion is elderly people and those who are shut-ins. There is a nursing home, Carrington Place, in the next county from where I live. After working 8-10 hrs a day, I go and spend time with those who have no one or just to talk and hear their stories every Thursday after work. Every Thursday is Thankful Thursday to me. Because I am so Thankful for this great calling the Lord has given me.
